A Synopsis OF HisStory
As Billy's memory loosens its grip on reality, William “Billy” Blue rows his ferry through a dreamlike Sydney Harbour where time folds in on itself. As the living drift beside the dead during a series of hallucinatory crossings, he confronts love, betrayal, rebellion, and injustice. He defends the woman he loves, turns his back on his governor, and ferries an Aboriginal boy, as well as the lost, including himself. Gritty, lyrical, and politically charged, this is both elegy and protest, seen through the eyes of an ordinary man too complicated for myth and too human to forget. A haunting meditation on memory, guilt, and the unfinished business of Australia’s colonial founding.
